Howdy, I'm Sophie! If you're wondering how I came up with the name for this blog, it was actually inspired by one of my favorite movies: Stranger Than Fiction. At one point in the movie, Will Ferrell brings the girl he's dating a box of different kinds of flours, and then he says: "I brought you flours!" - I thought it was adorable, especially since she works at a bakery.
So you'd like to know a little about me? Well...here it goes:
My personality is as quirky and pink as this blog. Almost all of the plates that feature my food were purchased at thrift stores (I'm a recent college grad on a budget, plus, I love used things)! I don't have a super cool camera, I use a simple $100 something dollar digi that serves me quite well. As far as my photography skills go...well, let's just say I have a very nifty homemade cardboard/fabric light box and desk lamp that work great together. I also have to thank Google for making Picasa - the FREE photo program that allows me to edit my pictures when they don't come out so picture perfect.
Speaking of perfect, I wish we lived in a world where we could daily eat desserts that have a stick or two of butter in them without regretting it later...but now that I'm gallbladderless, I have to think twice about what I eat; I know I'm not the only one! I also want to live to see my grandkids, or even have kids for that matter, so I'd like to avoid the heart attack and high cholesterol.
I've heard some say that you shouldn't trust a skinny chef, and even though I'm only a whopping 100lbs, you can trust me...plus, I'm not a chef...yet ;)! I taste everything before I post it on this blog, and I'm a firm believer in making healthy food that's satisfying! .
But I do have one confession: Sometimes even I indulge and bake/cook something that's a little less on the healthy side, but that's just because I love baking rich, chocolatey foods for my husband who puts the sparkle in my eye...he's the only one I don't mind buttering up :)!
